An afro house and indie dance DJ and producer known for playing tracks before anyone else, and creative director of Aura Afrohouse and Horizonte.
PLAYNOW is pleased to announce that LAX has joined its roster. Alejandro Ortiz, his real name, is a Madrid-based afro house and indie dance DJ and producer who has earned his place for a very specific reason: he tends to play tracks before they reach the mainstream. He also brings something less common in a young DJ: parties of his own, with a clear identity and a community behind them.
An ear ahead of the curve
LAX's sound moves between afro house, indie dance and melodic house, at a dancefloor tempo of 124 to 127 BPM built to keep the night going. What sets him apart is his selection: he seeks out and premieres international music that has not yet hit the charts, and shares it on social media, where his new music, sets and behind-the-scenes content reaches around 300,000 monthly views on Instagram.
Aura, Horizonte and a way of throwing parties
Beyond the booth, LAX is the creative director of several party concepts that bring together music, fashion and community:
- Aura Afrohouse, one of the afro house references in the Region of Murcia, with editions at venues such as Odiseo.
- Horizonte, the genre's other major meeting point in Murcia.
- Grassa and Gime!, two formats of his own that also carry his signature.

Where he has played
His track record includes Madrid venues such as Lula The Club, Fitz and Panthera, Zazu in Ibiza, Momento in Marbella and L'Aprem Fou in Paris. In recent months he has played Afrofetish at Lula Club and at Sublim (Marbella), and DESSEO at Shangrila (Campoamor). He has shared line-ups with Eran Hersh, Emmanuel Jal, Claudia León and JP Candela, also on the PLAYNOW roster.
